Early Summer Hike into Echo Lakes
Man, do I miss hiking. Last summer I was in the mountains every other weekend, going deep into the Sierras to unwind. I work hard and play hard, but this year I just haven’t had time.
Actually that might be stretching the truth… I’ve been lazy. I’m finding peace a little closer to home now days (I refuse to give up the outdoors). On September 24th, students and adults will walk approximately 14,000 steps (almost 7 miles) across Carson City, Nevada to support Speed the Light (STL), the student ministry arm for the Assemblies of God missionaries. Being at church today, I was curious to know how our lead pastor was going to communicate the events of 9/11. It’s a tough topic for many and especially those in the church and while he began his message I was inspired by his simple yet depth of focus: Christians [the church] will rise and continue to focus on God even when we don’t understand why bad things happen.
While many remembrance services are taking place all across the country, we chose to focus on the good that God brought about through this horrific act.
Churches were full. People were recommitting their lives to God. Hope was being restored and churches were in unity to provide a glimmer of heaven during a dark time. Continue Reading…
